 graphers andexperts from other nearby disciplines. is way of organizing th
 e observationsprovides many amenities including facilitating statistical w
 orks\, protecting priva-cy\, and cooperating smoothly with the administrat
 ion\, but comes with a price: themodiable areal unit problem (MAUP). e MAU
 P refers to the sensitivities orinconsistencies of analysis results brough
 t by the different spatial congurationsof the same study area. Many empiri
 cal studies have documented the extensiveimpacts brought by the MAUP\; how
 ever\, the mechanism it reshapes the analysisresults is not as straightfor
 ward as one may anticipate. Sometimes\, it does notcause the trouble direc
 tly\, but leverage the aermath of other imperfections. Inthis talk\, I wil
 l share some ndings of how the MAUP will affect the regressionresults thro
 ugh the channel of model specication errors\, and the opportunitiesthat ho
 w we can possibly benet from this &lsquo\;problem&rsquo\; in alternative s
