DESCRIPTION:Environmental protection and environmental safety is one of the
  priorities of the Government of Ukraine. Coordination of activities to so
 lve environmental problems is carried out by the Ministry of Ecology of Uk
 raine. However\, issues of cleanliness and safety of the environment are a
 ddressed within the work of other ministries in their areas of activity. E
 nvironmental departments work in local administrations. Scientific institu
 tes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine\, branch academies of s
 ciences\, higher educational establishments are engaged in introduction of
  new technologies and new methods of control of ecological safety in Ukrai
 ne.\nChemical safety of the environment is one of the most important aspec
 ts of environmental protection. Therefore\, much attention in research in 
 this area is paid to the development of new methods of analysis\, their pr
 actical application for environmental monitoring and assessment of safety 
 for human health. New methods for use in specialized laboratories to contr
 ol the purity of air\, water\, soil\, agricultural raw materials\, and foo
 d are considered by the State Standard of Ukraine\, approved by the Minist
 ry of Health and the Ministry of Ecology. These techniques are used to con
 trol the state of pollution in the elimination of such chemically hazardou
 s objects as warehouses of unusable and prohibited pesticides\, other toxi
 c substances\, control of air pollution at chemically hazardous enterprise
 s\, surface and drinking water.\nPublic organizations\, in particular the 
 Chromatographic Society of Ukraine\, deal with environmental protection an
 d control issues. The task of the Society is to develop contacts between s
 cientists and specialists working in scientific institutions of the releva
 nt profile\, to disseminate information about modern research in this fiel
 d. For this purpose\, the Society holds scientific conferences with the pa
 rticipation of domestic and foreign scientists\, publishes a scientific jo
