Goals and Pursuits

The goal of the BayCEER is to promote research in sustainable utilization, protection and sanitation of natural resources, as well as the transfer of knowledge to concerned parties. Concentrations in research include:

• Functions of Ecosystems
• Biodiversity Protection
• Pollution and Detoxification
• Climate Research 
  

The BayCEER provides support to its members in every aspect of their research, as long as their research coincides with the goals of BayCEER: from the initial application, to performing of the research and, finally, to the distribution of results to public entities.
Within the BayCEER, synergies between members are fostered and expanded. The binding foundation of the BayCEER consists of:

• Analytical Chemistry
• Isotope Biogeochemistry
• Data Processing and Databases
• Experiment Plot Maintenance
• Coordination and Public Outreach

The BayCEER aims to incorporate the research activities of its members into the classroom. Without interfering with the responsibilites of the departments, the BayCEER integrates current problems in ecology and the environment into interdisciplinary courses. BayCEER also participates in international training programs and in thematically relevant post-graduate programs, as well as the Virtual College of Bavaria.

The BayCEER is the point of contact for government agencies, industry, societies and educational institutions, and is involved in the corresponding initiatives of these organizations.
