Main aim of the Community Initiative programs is to raise socioeconomic level in border zone with regard to commercial, economical, touristic and cultural relations between regions.

Based on very good contacts for a long time and professional experience between Czech and Bavarian partners [i.e. Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture (CISTA), and later Crop Research Institute (CRI) in the Czech Republic and Landesamt für Umvelt (LfU) – (previously Bayerisches Geologisches Landesamt – GLA) in Bavaria] was applied project in frame Community Initiative program INTERREG IIIA. The project named “Risk elements in the soil in relation to the environment - cross-border base of soil protection - Bavaria – Czech Republic” is focused on the environment protection.

The principle of this project is transplantation and implementation of monitoring grid 8 x 8 km, i.e. 278 monitoring points (before now established in Bavaria in frame GRABEN project) on the Czech territory along the Czech-Bavaria border. Each monitoring point had own identity (geographic-topographic) – by the satellite navigation system – GPS.

This monitoring grid 8 x 8 km has a sequence (from German national coordinate system Transverse Mercator – GK-4, through universal coordinate system World Global Projection System – WGS-84, to Czech S-JTSK national coordinate system) on the European monitoring grid.

On monitoring points the soil pit were made and followed by description of soil profiles and soil sampling, analytical works (determination different soil characteristics – soil texture, content of organic pollutants, heavy metals etc.), bilateral valuation and comparison of achieved results and their interpretation for public (text and cartographic presentations, seminars, web-sites etc.).

This project No. CZ.04.4.82/ was co-financed from European fund for regional development.
