DESCRIPTION:High resolution mass spectrometry provides highly specific info
 rmation about analytes in complex mixtures. Applications presented in this
  talk range from fog samples and atmospheric aerosol to food products and 
 human biopsy tissue. In addition to (routine) chromatography-based approac
 hes\, the talk will include mass spectrometry imaging. This technique prov
 ides spatial and molecular information for a wide range of compounds. In c
 ontrast to most histochemical techniques\, mass spectrometry imaging can d
 ifferentiate (amino acid) modifications and does not require labelling of 
 compounds. Another focus of this presentation will be data analysis and ha
 ndling\, including new computational approaches and standardization effort
 s by the mass spectrometry community.
