A field course will be carried out in conjunction with the first joint experiment (month 19). The ESRs will, together with their respective supervisor, present specific aspects of their ESR projects in an applied manner to the other participants. This concept provides the individual ESRs with an opportunity to acquire initial teaching skills, while at the same time it provides an efficient opportunity to familiarize all ESRs with the application of advanced field techniques for sampling, measuring, and characterizing hyporheic processes and thus to broaden their technical and experimental knowledge. This course will improve the quality of the subsequent data analyses of the joint field and modelling studies as all participants will acquire deep insight into the way how data were generated and which practical limitations are associated with specific methods.
