To travel from Nuremberg airport to Bayreuth by train, you need to take the subway to the main station first:

The subway station is located directly in front of the airport hall. The best ticket option is a ticket for the VGN area (the regional transport association) for fare zone 10 (Einzelfahrschein Preisstufe 10, which costs about 11 EUR). After validation this can be used for the subway to the main station, the train to Bayreuth, and busses within Bayreuth, if needed.

Take the subway with final destination Röthenbach and get off at Hauptbahnhof (main station). Follow the guideposts to the train station and find your train number and platform/track on the large departure board in the station hall. When entering the train, please pay attention to take the correct part of the train (with destination Bayreuth; sometimes the train is splitted on the way, see above).
