How to get to Bayreuth
The nearest airport is Nuremberg, other possible airports include Munich, Frankfurt/Main, Berlin, Leipzig or Stuttgart.
Train travel times to Bayreuth range from 1 hour 10 minutes from Nuremberg to about 6 hours from Berlin. Time tables can be checked at the online ticket purchase of the Deutsche Bahn.
Many overseas participants probably arrive at Frankfurt airport. To find and book an appropriate train connection to Bayreuth use the following entries for the Deutsche Bahn page:

Participants traveling via Nuremberg by train, please note: Some trains to Bayreuth are divided on the way - pay attention to be on the correct part of the train (on destination displays on the car and inside over the doors you should see "Bayreuth").
Bayreuth is easily reached by car on the national motorways (Autobahn) A9 and A70.
A further travel option within Germany are long distance busses.

To reduce travelling time and effort especially for attendees coming from far away, the conference team offers a transfer bus service for the core arrival times from Nuremberg airport to Bayreuth on 7th and 8th January:

As there is no suitable bus stop location directly at the airport arrivall hall, the busses will wait for passengers and depart at a bus stop in about 2 min walking distance, situated between the Mövenpick hotel and the car park 2 building, both located directly in front of the airport building. To travel from Nuremberg airport to Bayreuth by train, you need to take the subway to the main station first:
The subway station is located directly in front of the airport hall. The best ticket option is a ticket for the VGN area (the regional transport association) for fare zone 10 (Einzelfahrschein Preisstufe 10, which costs about 11 EUR). After validation this can be used for the subway to the main station, the train to Bayreuth, and busses within Bayreuth, if needed.
Take the subway with final destination Röthenbach and get off at Hauptbahnhof (main station). Follow the guideposts to the train station and find your train number and platform/track on the large departure board in the station hall. When entering the train, please pay attention to take the correct part of the train (with destination Bayreuth; sometimes the train is splitted on the way, see above).
How to get to the Campus of the University of Bayreuth
The conference will take place in the buildings Audimax and RW on the campus of the University of Bayreuth located in the south of the city of Bayreuth. There will be a shuttle bus provided from the hotels reserved for conference participants to the campus in the morning and back to the hotels in the evening.
The campus can also be reached
- By car: Autobahn A9 (Berlin-München). Take exit 42 'Bayreuth Süd' and follow the signs to the University.
- By public transport: You can use "Bus No. 304" and "Bus No. 306" starting at the 'ZOH' (central bus station). Exit the bus at bus stop 'Mensa'.
- Walking distance from downtown is about 2 kilometres.
