How to evaluate the long-term effects of ecological restoration on species communities? A new model-based approach
In order to make nature restoration more effective, better tools for quantifying the effects of ecological restoration interventions – and environmental impacts more generally – are needed. Here, I will present work from my PhD thesis on the application of Generalised Latent Variable Models (GLVMS) to modeling long term succession dynamics in species composition after restoration, aimed at giving estimates of both the time to recovery relative to a reference, relative effectiveness of different treatments, and associated uncertainties.
The BayCEER Colloquium serves as an interdisciplinary platform for students, academics and interested citizens: during the lecture period, guests and members of BayCEER give insights into their research, which can then be discussed in plenary and in a relaxed atmosphere during the post-colloquium.
