Macroecology and Biogeography meeting 2023
From May 3rd to 6th 2023, the University of Bayreuth was hosting the joint annual meeting of the specialist group Macroecology of the Ecological Society (GfÖ) as well as the specialist group Biogeography within the Association for Geography (VGDH).
About 140 participants experienced an intensive, internationally attended event with ca. 40 lectures, 50 poster contributions and a diverse program. Integrating the annual meetings of two leading scientific platforms for macroecological and biogeographic topics in central Europe, the conference aimed to foster communication and collaboration between scientist interested in the great diversity of patterns in the geographic variation of nature - from physiological, morphological and genetic variation among individuals and populations to differences in the diversity and composition of biotas along geographic gradients. Participants shared a passion for research on biogeography and macroecology but were often working in disparate academic fields including ecology and geography but also evolutionary biology, palaeontology, bioinformatics, global change biology and conservation.
We would like to thank all contributors and guests for the great and stimulating event.
