• Hotspots of C input:
  Root-released C in the rhizosphere, C input and turnover in subsoil biopores
• Rhizosphere processes:
  Rhizosphere Priming Effect, carbon and nutrient turnover, plant-soil-microbe interaction, root-C channeling through soil food web
• Soil CO₂ efflux:
  Flux partitioning, isotope fractionation at the root-soil interface
• Quantification of rhizodeposition on field scale
