DESCRIPTION: One ultimate goal of global change research is to predict futu
re states of ecological and climate systems. To achieve that goal\, we nee
d to understand mechanisms underlying ecosystem responses and feedback to
global change\; develop process-based models\, and integrate experimental
results into models toward predictions. This talk will highlight our resea
rch activities and achievements using experimental\, modeling\, and data a
ssimilation approaches. In particular\, I will discuss our work on ecosyst
em responses and feedback to rising atmospheric CO2\, climate warming\, an
d altered precipitation. I will also introduce our recent research focus o
n data-model fusion toward ecological forecasting.
