DESCRIPTION:Invited by Prof. Dr. B. Huwe Geophysical methods have been reco
 gnised as very attractive tools to characterise soil structure and soil pr
 operties. Electrical resistivity measurements are one of the mostly used g
 eophysical methods in soil science. In this talk\, first the basics of ele
 ctrical resistivity will be presented\, as well as the experimental method
 s and the inversion algorithms used to interpret the data. Then\, the abil
 ity of electrical resistivity to characterise soil types and soil structur
 e at a local scale\, by both 2D and 3D prospecting will be discussed. In a
  third part\, we will present some results of characterisation of soil hyd
 rodynamic functioning by spatial electrical resistivity prospecting at pro
 file scale and at small watershed scale. Finally\, we will conclude by a b
 rief presentation of the recent advances in the field of hydrogeophysics.
