In my research, I examine the role of traits known or hypothesized to affect plant performance under drought stress, and test their importance for plant differential drought tolerance of grassland species. By linking traits measured in the greenhouse to species responses to drought in a common garden field experiment, I will test the relative importance of desiccation avoidance and desiccation tolerance strategies for grassland species. This research may help us to predict changes in grasslands under climate change. It is a part of Biodiversity Exploratories, funded by German Research Foundation (DFG).
