Doctoral Research Position (m/f/d)

The Research Group Functional and Tropical Plant Ecology, Prof. Dr. Engelbrecht, offers a Doctoral Research Position (m/f/d) for 3 year, which offers an excellent opportunity to conduct internationally visible research in a dynamic academic environment. The start date is flexible between April and August 2026. The doctoral researcher will participate in the research project ‘The ecological role of silicon in tropical forests: consequences of inter- and intraspecific variation of silicon accumulation for woody seedling regeneration in the forest understory’, which is funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) and carried out in close collaboration with Dr. Liza Comita, The Forest School, Yale University, U.S.A. A central component of the project is field research in lowland tropical forests in central Panama, hosted by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).
