Forest disturbances and their mutual interactions

Support: Björn Reineking, Klara Dolos

Understanding forest disturbnace interactions.

The main forest disturbances bark beetles, fire, windthrow and drought are one of the key factors influencing ecosystem services by modifying species composition and stand structure. To assess the future development of forest ecosystems and the associated risks and opportunities, the disturbance regimes and their mutual interactions have to be considered. Within this Master-thesis we want to assess those mutual interactions and focus on bark beetle outbreaks as a biotic disturbance regime.
