Chair of Didactics for Biology at the University of Bayreuth

At the Chair of Didactics for Biology, students are mainly accompanied during their teacher education. Many proposals for practical studies, such as school internships, school experiments or field trips prepare the students for their future working environment.

Working teachers are given the opportunity of further training. Programs such as the Demonstrational Lab “Bio-/Genetic engineering” or lectures on “The Ear – The Hearing of Sound“ can be utilized to increase their knowledge and assurance on specific topics and get in touch with new methods of teaching.

EU-projects in the manner of “PATHWAY“ or “Open Discovery Space“ give teachers the chance to discover future-oriented teaching methods like inquiry based teaching or e-learning by attending specifically designed training workshops.

Research projects like “KLIMAwandel“ and “WASSER im Leben – Leben im Wasser“ examine new lesson forms and examples for specific effect sizes to benefit the pupils. Oriented towards the syllabus, topical subjects are redeveloped and tested towards their effectiveness, for example in extramural learning environments.
