Wildfires in the Mediterranean: trends, patterns, drivers and impacts

Wildfires are a widespread phenomenon and in some environments they are an essential component of the ecosystem. On the other hand, in several regions current climate change is modifying wildfire regimes and impacts, with the novel risk of megafires. In this contribution I shall discuss some of our recent results on wildfire drivers and consequences, with particular emphasis on the Mediterranean area.
