  • ecosystem functions and services: theory, scales, assessment and implementation in landscape planning

  • greenhouse gas exchange of ecosystems: measurement and modelling

  • restoration ecology with special emphasis to biological sinks

  • climate change and biodiversity: modelling of effects, synergies and conflicts
