The lecture includes basic aspects of microbiology, these are in particular: Structure and Function of the prokaryotic cell, cultivation of microorganisms and their growth control, diversity of microbial metabolism, cell differentiation, phylogeny, systematics and diversity of prokaryotes, and the medical and biotechnological importance of microorganisms.
