Calcium peroxide (CaO₂), an alkaline-earth metal peroxide, has received growing attention as a remediation agent in lake restoration. Upon contact with water, CaO₂ gradually releases oxygen, thereby serving as a sustained oxygen source in anoxic aquatic environments. The resulting increase in dissolved oxygen concentrations can stimulate aerobic microbial processes and improve overall ecosystem functioning. A previous study conducted by our research group investigated the application of a calcium peroxide-based lake restoration agent (CLRA) in the lake, Melangsee. Building on this work, the present study aims to evaluate the effects of CLRA application on sediment properties, including biogeochemical characteristics, aquatic physicochemical and microbial water quality parameters, microbial communities, and algal abundance in Lake Röhrensee (Bayreuth, Germany). To evaluate these effects, field and laboratory experiments were conducted.
