Silphia research: results relevant for practice

Silphia research: results relevant for practice

2022-10-06

Are there groundwater-friendly alternatives to energy maize? This question was the impetus for the demonstration project "Silphie cultivation in the Northern Franconian Alps", which started in 2017 on the initiative of the Government of Upper Franconia and was financed by the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry and by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. Dr Marianne Lauerer and Prof. Dr Johanna Pausch met with stakeholders from planning and practice in mid-September at the lysimeter facility in the Ecological-Botanical Garden to discuss the status of the research questions.
