Proton Transfer Reaction - Time of Flight - Mass Spectrometer (KEYLAB)

PTR-ToF-MS is a selective and sensitive method for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOC) in air. Our PTR-ToF-MS is deployed in both field experiments and in the laboratory, for example, for measurements at the atmospheric simulation chamber. As keylab it can be utilised by all research groups of the University of Bayreuth.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography

HPLC is used to separate, identify and quantify molecules in a sample. Here, we use several detectors such as a mass spectrometer, UV-absorption or fluorescence detection. We analyse, for example, the composition of atmospheric particles with HPLC.

Gas Chromatography

With GC, we can analyse volatile organic compounds in the air. We are interested in the composition of trace components, which are exchanged between soil, plant and atmosphere.

Bayreuth ATmospheric simulation CHambers (BATCH)

Atmospheric simulation chambers enable the controlled study of the complex, non-linear chemical reactions of the atmosphere - without the influence of sources, sinks and dynamic processes that typically strongly impact the composition of the real atmosphere.
