Research interests:

• Chemical ecology:
  Pheromones, antibodies and poisons from insects (e.g. springtails, various beetles, cicadas) and their biological significance; symbiotic relationships between insects and microorganisms; biologically active natural products from insects (e.g. bactericides, fungicides, tumor inhibitors)
• Genetically modified plants:
  Bt plants and effects on parasitoids as non-target organisms
• Field studies:
  Aquatic insects in waters, in particular in bogs (bionomy, taxonomy, nature conservation, population biology), grasshopper colonies of East Africa
