Learning Objectives: This module provides a comprehensive overview of global nature-related politics, regulatory frameworks, and reporting standards, focusing on their impact on financial markets and corporate entities. Participants will explore key stakeholders, compliance challenges, and evolving nature- and climate-related risks. The course equips them with practical expertise to assess regulatory requirements, identify risks, and uncover opportunities for corporate sustainability, compliance and risk management.

Course Content: This course provides a theoretical and practical exploration of international nature politics, economics, and regulatory frameworks, emphasizing their impact on financial & corporate stakeholders, and evolving regulatory regimes and standards.

The first part introduces key concepts, reporting standards, and major players in nature-related governance, featuring virtual guest contributions from industry experts (e.g., Bundesbank, EU Commission, NGOs, corporations). Participants will gain insights into real-world applications, regulatory processes, and future trends in nature-related policies and corporate due diligence.

In the second part, participants will conduct independent research, analyze information, and present findings through a policy brief and summary presentation. Topics include reviewing key regulations, assessing stakeholder influence, and examining reporting standards shaping corporate strategies. Discussions will focus on scientific, legal, economic, and business implications, highlighting challenges and opportunities for corporate compliance and sustainability.
