Samuel is fascinated by macroecological patterns and dedicated to conservation biogeography. Protecting biodiversity at large geographical extent is necessary to maintain nature's functioning and services for the human well-being in general. To understand and preserve the environmental, ecological and evolutionary processes shaping biodiversity patterns, he is especially concerned with concepts of species diversity (e.g. differentiation diversity) and remote sensing. Therefore, he is experienced in statistics, GIS and corresponding software applications. In his PhD, Samuel is investigating conservation effort in terms of biodiversity preservation of protected areas under global climate change.
