Goals

The annual BayCEER Workshops are meant to foster networking and cooperation inside the Bayreuth Center of Ecology and Environmental Research. All chairs and researchers active in this field are invited to present their work.

The 2013 focus on the lifecycle of research ideas will facilitate the exchange of information between different disciplines, as more and more ideas have to be realized within predetermined time frames of third-party funded research projects. Competitive ideas dwelling and surviving in this “research environment” benefit from a cooperative and encouraging atmosphere at your working place – the BayCEER Workshop wants to contribute to this.

PhD students

For PhD students, a talk or poster at the BayCEER Workshop is a straightforward possibility to present their work to an interested audience of experts. The interdisciplinary exchange of information provides a wealth of new ideas for your research.

Presenting the own research in a comprehensible and convincing way to an interdisciplinary audience is a skill which can be practiced here. A poster prize as well as the prize for the best talk are announced for PhD students . A course on Presentation Skills accompanies the workshop.

Members of the PhD program for Ecology and Environmental Research (PEER) will get credit points for their participation in the workshop, and will be given priority to participate in the program Key Skills: Presentation.

Senior scientists

BayCEER members – postdoctoral research fellows and professors – are very welcome to share their experience on research lifecycles by means of current examples in their field. For newcomers at the UBT the workshop is the opportunity to get to know the diversity of fields in environmental science at the University of Bayreuth and to present their field of expertise to the community.

Students

All interested students are encouraged to participate in the workshop. Students finishing up their MSc or BSc thesis are invited to present their results during the workshop.
