Tracing the Life of Research Ideas

The lifecycle of research ideas is worth a closer look: arising in the heads of researchers from kindergarten to university they may be put into practice within five minutes or five years – dependent on the availability of resources as well as on the conviction and perseverance of the researcher.

Surely a lot of research will never leave our heads or quickly fail because of practical obstacles. On the other hand research ideas are prone to give life to new ideas, especially if shared with other researchers. And the answers received from experimentation and modeling are never exhaustive: a myriad of talks given by researchers end with the phrase “more research is needed”.

Therefore, the 5th Workshop of the Bayreuth Center for Ecology and Environmental Research BayCEER will trace the life of research ideas currently being pursued in this field on October 10, 2013. We call junior as well as senior scientists to present insights into their research to an interdisciplinary audience ranging from ecology oriented biology to the geosciences:

Tell us about fresh ideas conceived based on prior results, research "in its prime" and preliminary outcomes as well as research yields from ideas coming to an end and conclusion!
What are the findings expected or already gained?
And which new ideas are already nurtured in the cradle?
