Die Universität Bayreuth, Abteilung Mikrometeorologie, beteiligte sich am LITFASS-2003 Experiment vom 19.05. bis 20.06.2003 mit zwei Messstationen zur Bestimmung der Verdunstung und weiterer Fluss- und Strahlungsgrößen. Das Experiment wird im Rahmen der Forschungsprogramme EVA-GRIPS (DEKLIM) und VERTIKO (afo-2000) durchgeführt.

Einige Highlights:
* 12 mikrometeorologische Messstationen (davon 2 aus Bayreuth) und 9 Scintillometer im Dauerbetrieb
* 4 Lidar-Geräte an etwa 75 % der 30 Messtage im Einsatz
* ca. 65 Helipod-Flugstunden
* Überflüge durch die Bundeswehr an 5 Tagen
* 120 operationelle + 20 zusätzliche Radiosondierungen
* nahezu ausfallfreier Betrieb der operationellen Messsysteme am MOL
* wolkenarme Bedingungen während zweier der vier Landsat-Überflug-Termine
