BEWA-2000 Field Campains in 2002 and 2002

BEWA-2000

From 01/2001 to 10/2002

Experiment manager: Otto Klemm
Staff: Jörg Gerchau, Andreas Held, Cornelia Gerwig (Klör)

Two four-week field campaigns have been conducted at the "Waldstein" ecosystem research station of the Bayreuth Institute for Terrestrial Ecosystem Research (BITÖK) within the BEWA2000 framework. In July / August 2001 and 2002, scientists from seven countries set up extensive measurement equipment on a 30m micrometeorological tower in the "Fichtelgebirge" mountain range in NE Bavaria, Germany. The measurements focussed on the determination of vertical fluxes of biogenic VOCs, atmospheric trace gases and particles. BVOCs contribute to the formation of surface ozone and may also form new particles or condense on already existing particles.
