Prof. Dr. Thomas Foken headed the Department of Micometeorology from 1997 to 2014. For the meteorologist – with PhD degrees from the Universities at Leipzig and Berlin – the boundary layer between the atmosphere and the land surfaces has been the central research topic, with a strong ecological focus since 1997 at the University of Bayreuth.
