Attention has increasingly been focused on the impact of global change on ecosystems of the Amazon basin . Increasing human population associated with large-scale deforestation are thought to be the main factors that cause regional temperature and precipitation anomalies, which occur particularly during ENSO and La Nina events.
Basing on data originating from different Amazonian ecosystems, this short seminar introduces to the evolution of the Amazonian landscape in the past, presents data about actual climatic trends, and discusses its possible impact on tree species distribution, diversity, and growth behaviour.
This seminar will start on Friday, 16:00, the detailed time of the Saturday session will be announced in the Friday session.
