Excursion Bayerischer Wald (Bavarian Forest)

Tu. 2011-10-18-Su. 2011-10-23

Contact: Martin Wegmann
An excursion to the Bavarian Forest with regard to Remote Sensing and Biodiversity sampling applications in National Parks. The Bavarian Forest is unique due to the Bark Beetle damages that have incurred in the forest and consequentially experiences emerging biodiversity richness.

Students will have the opportunity to take biodiversity ground samples and apply different remote sensing techniques such as landcover classification schemes. Furthermore, GPS skills and other field work relevant equipment applications will be exercised. Furthermore, relationships/problems of spatial orientation/data collection as well as correlations between ground measurements and remote sensing data will be discussed.

Presentations on the results will be held in December (in small groups)
