Learning Objectives: The module goal is to learn fundamental biogeochemical and physical processes taking place at the root-soil interface and their larger scale implications

Course Content: 

The rhizosphere is one of the most dynamic interfaces in terrestrial ecosystems and certainly the most important zone in terms of defining the quality and quantity of our crops.

Interactions in the rhizosphere between living organisms (roots and microorganisms), solids (minerals and organic matter), liquids (water with dissolved nutrients) and gaseous phases are pivotal in controlling ecosystem dynamics, functions and the services they provide.
