Samuel is fascinated by macroecological patterns and dedicated to conservation biogeography. Protecting biodiversity is necessary to maintain nature's functioning and services for human well-being. To understand and preserve the environmental, ecological and evolutionary processes shaping biodiversity patterns, he is especially concerned with concepts of species diversity, climate change and remote sensing. In his PhD, Samuel is investigating the effectiveness of protected areas in conserving biodiversity under anthropogenic threats.
