Abstract:
A measure for the ratio of the reaction and transport time is the Damköhler number. The calculation of the Damköhler number bases mainly on the aerodynamic method. This is not adequate to describe transport processes in a forest with the domination of coherent structures. It is proposed to discuss transport processes in the forest in relation to the coupling of the canopy and the atmosphere - or better – to combine the Damköhler number with the timescale of coherent structures.
