Abstract: The subject of this book is atmospheric processes in the immediate living environment of human beings, this environment being defined as the lowest 100--1000 meters of the atmosphere within regions of only a few kilometres extension. To date this micrometeorological scale has only been partially addressed by meteorological textbooks. Therefore, this book presents important basics, especially for areas within the field of applied meteorology such as biometeorology, agrometeorology, hydrometeorology, environmental and technical meteorology, and biogeochemistry. An important area explored by the author is the fluxes between the atmosphere and the surface, emphasizing plant covered and heterogeneous underlying surfaces. The author covers theory, measuring techniques, experimental methods, and modelling, all in a manner which facilitates using each part of the book for teaching, research, and/or practical applications.
