Hot gradients & cold spots - spatial dimensions of organic matter dispersal and nutrient immobilization in the rhizosphere and consequences for plant nutrition

The contact between soil and plant is the critical zone for carbon and nutrient exchange. The spatial relationships between storage and release of nutrients in the rhizosphere are still to be understood. In this project we use modern spatial high-resolution methods to identify carbon and nutrient deposits in the rhizosphere. This is embedded in a larger research group, the SPP Rhizosphere program of the German Research association.
