MSc and BSc Theses
Are you curious about how soils work? Do you want to combine hands-on experiments with mathematical modelling, or explore cutting-edge techniques like X-ray μCT imaging? We offer BSc and MSc thesis opportunities at the intersection of soil physics, soil hydrology, plant–soil interactions, and modelling of soil–plant–atmosphere systems.
We are particularly interested in students who enjoy comparing experimental observations with theoretical predictions — and who are not afraid to question established theory. MSc students are especially encouraged to develop new ideas and hypotheses of their own.
What to expect
|
Scientific freedom We welcome your own ideas and hypotheses — not just predefined topics. |
Real research You will work alongside PhD students and postdocs on active research questions. |
Clear structure Topics, expectations, and milestones are agreed upon together in a thesis contract. |
How to apply
Interested students are invited to attend an initial meeting where topics are discussed and expectations are clarified. You will then draft a thesis contract together with your supervisor. An example contract can be found here.
To get started, please contact Prof. Efstathios Diamantopoulos directly — briefly introduce yourself and describe what you are curious about.
Currently available topics
We are not advertising specific topics at the moment — but that does not mean there is nothing to work on. Browse our current projects for inspiration, get in touch, and we will find something that matches your interests and skills.
You can also have a look at our current theses and finished theses to get a sense of the topics we work on.
