Welcome to the Soil Physics Group!
We are a diverse and enthusiastic team of scientists working on soil physics, soil hydrology, root–soil interactions, solute and heat transport, and the modelling of soil–plant–atmosphere systems.
We believe that understanding soils requires a multiscale perspective — no single spatial or temporal scale tells the full story. By combining experimental observations with mathematical modelling across scales, we tackle both fundamental questions about soil processes and applied challenges relevant to agriculture, hydrology, and climate.
Research Areas
| ■ | Soil water flow — movement of water through structured soils, including preferential flow |
| ■ | Solute and heat transport — coupled transport processes across soil profiles |
| ■ | Soil structure and soil physical health modelling — quantifying and predicting soil functions |
| ■ | Plant–soil interactions — root water uptake and rhizosphere processes across scales |
| ■ | Soil–plant–atmosphere modelling — integrated SPAC continuum tools (Daisy, daisy.ku.dk) |
