Stefan Strohmeier: Curriculum Vitae
I am particularly interested in the biogeochemical cycles of terrestrial ecosystems. More specifically, I am interested in the ecological relevance and the driving factors of quality and quantity of dissolved and fine particulate organic matter in the terrestrial carbon cycle and their transition to the aqueous system.
The title of my diploma thesis was “Effects of Litter Manipulation on Amino sugar Contents in Forest Soils”. I used different amino sugars as an indicator for fungal or bacterial derived residues and I could find that enhanced litter (carbon) input over a ten years period has little effect on the ratio of fungal to bacterial residues.
In July and August 2009, I had the opportunity to visit TERRECO project partners in South Korea and to gain some insight in their projects. In addition, I managed to install important measuring devices for my own project and I organized the analytical procedures for next years stay in South Korea.
