On May 4th and 5th, the University of Bayreuth will be hosting the joint annual meeting of the specialist group Macroecology of the Ecological Society (GfÖ) as well as the specialist group Biogeography within the Association for Geography (VGDH). The conference is organized by the BayCEER, including a large number of scientists working on Macroecology, Biogeography or related fields. Abstracts for oral and poster contributions can be submitted until the 25th of March. Registration also ends on the 25th of March.
Integrating the annual meetings of two leading scientific platforms for macroecological and biogeographic topics in central Europe, the conference aims to foster communication and collaboration between scientist interested in the great diversity of patterns in the geographic variation of nature - from physiological, morphological and genetic variation among individuals and populations to differences in the diversity and composition of biotas along geographic gradients.
The conference thus invites scientists interested in research on biogeography and macroecology often working in disparate academic fields including ecology and geography but also evolutionary biology, paleontology, bioinformatics, global change biology and conservation to promote scientific exchange and progress.
