Entry Requirements

You need the following items for your application (all in English!):

1. Completed application form (online)
2. Attachments
   1. The motivation letter (max. 2 pages) explaining specific talents and interests that make you particularly well-suited for the programme of study
   2. A copy of your BSc certificate including a confirmation with individual grades for the coursework and examinations completed during the applicant's studies
      1. 20 ECTS in physics, biology, or chemistry
      2. 20 ECTS in environmental sciences
      3. 180 ECTS in total
      4. An examination grade of 2,5 or better on the German grading scale
      5. [If the bachelor's certificate is not yet available, confirmation containing the individual grades for all examinations and courses up to the registration deadline must be submitted, showing that you have completed  at least 135 ECTS. The BSc certificate has to be submitted until the end of the 1st semester at the latest]
   3. Your curriculum vitae CV (in table form, 1 page, including a recent photo)
   4. Evidence of a strong command of English (documented either by a high school degree, a BSc, or a thesis completed in English, or an English language certificate equivalent to the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
   5. If available, evidence of special qualifications (stipends, awards, internships, etc.) or interdisciplinary study skills
   6. If applicable, affirmative action application
   7. Applicants from outside the EU who have obtained their degree abroad have to upload the application documents also via uni-assist and undergo a fee-based special procedure. Please request your VPD as early as possible (at least 6-8 weeks before the application deadline for the desired degree programme at the University of Bayreuth). We can only accept your VPD if it has been issued for an application to the University of Bayreuth. You can have your documents reviewed by uni-assist any time of the year. If the portal for the desired semester has not yet been opened at uni-assist, simply select the current semester and any degree programme at the University of Bayreuth. It does not matter whether you apply for the summer or the winter semester at uni-assist. Please note, however, that the application deadline at the University of Bayreuth (15 June) must be met.
