I am invested in understanding the natural world in order to restore and protect habitats and shape landscapes where people and nature can thrive together. With a background in geography, hands-on conservation and ecological analysis, I look at multiple scales, from the single research plot to a whole region, so as to better understand ongoing ecological processes. At the University of Bayreuth I focus on alpine vegetation, collecting data for and analyzing the long-term GLORIA and MIREN datasets in order to identify patterns of change in mountain plant communities over decades. My interest in vegetation and ecosystem change extends to how humans shape and understand ecosystems, including the dynamics of alien species, conservation strategies and adaptation to a changing environment.
