Cleaner air in Munich? UBT coordinates research project to improve air quality on busy streets

2021-11-10

Funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (StMUV), four Bavarian universities are investigating the effectiveness of air purification systems on the particularly polluted Landshuter Allee in Munich. The research project is coordinated by Anke Nölscher (Atmospheric Chemistry) and Christoph Thomas (Micrometeorology). In the future, the filter systems could improve air quality in densely built-up and busy urban areas and thus be a flexibly applicable bridging technology; the project wants to develop a scientifically-based recommendations for action for such air filter systems in urban areas.
