• Responses of plants to oxygen deficiency stress: Regulation of gene expression under oxygen deficiency, metabolic adaptations (for example fermentation), morphological and anatomical adaptations
• Methods:
  Cloning of promoters and genes, selection and identification of transgenic plants, DNA, RNA and protein extraction and analysis, measurement of enzyme activities and metabolite contents
• Growth assays:
  Microarray Analyses and bioinformatic approaches
• Important model plants:
  Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa (rice), Solanum tuberosum (potato)
