Application

If you want to achieve a doctoral degree in the structured PhD program "Ecology and Environmental Research" (PEER) you need to hand in an application. This has to be done shortly before or at the beginning of your doctoral studies. But also a direct admission of master students with higher-than-average credits (Fast-Track) is possible.

For the admission you need the confirmation of the supervisor of your doctorate, who must be an authorized examiner (“prüfungsberechtigt”). Two further mentors should be agreed upon before applying online for PEER.

The PEER executive board and the Dean's office will evaluate content and formalities of your application. Your doctoral studies within PEER require separate admission & request forms for acceptance as doctoral candidate within the BayNAT graduate school. When your PEER & BayNAT applications are complete you will be approved to start your PhD by the BayNAT committee.

These are the documents needed for the application:

  • Admission and request form with signatures from candidate and supervisor (is provided as pre-filled PDF when applying online)
  • Letter of motivation
  • C.V.
  • Confirmation of the mentoring committee (automatically requested during the online application procedure)
  • Master degree or diploma certificate including transcript of records (copies either legally attested or signed by the dean’s office after presenting original certificates)
  • If all examinations have been passed but the certificate is still missing: confirmation with complete transcript of recorsd
  • For foreign diplomas: equivalence test (further information available from the dean’s office)
  • For  Fast-Track access: documents as outlined in the BayNAT regulations
  • For participants of the eligibility test: required documentation

Further you need to draft a Supervision Agreement with the supervisor for your doctoral studies, which is also a precondition to get individual funding within the UBT Graduate School.
